Marina Pacheco begun her musical studies with Pedro Telles and concluded her Bachelors at ESMAE under the guidance of José de Oliveira Lopes. She did her Masters in Musical Performance at UCP – Escola das Artes, where she studied with António Salgado and Sofia Serra. In 2010/2011 Marina was member of Vlaamse Operastudio, in Belgium, for which she got two scholarships from Leonardo da Vinci’s Program and Robus Foundation.
There are several professionals who contributed to Marina’s progress: Ambra Vespasiani, Ann Murray, Elisabete Matos, Ettore Nova, Fernanda Correia, Francisco Lazaro, Graham Jonhson, Jaime Mota, João Paulo Santos, Laura Sarti, Luciana Serra, Marc Tardue, Muriel Corradini, Nicholas McNair, Patricia MacMahon, Paulo Ferreira, Rui Taveira, Susan McCullogh, Susan Waters and Tom Krause. At the moment, she develops her technical and stylistic knowledge with conductor Marc Tardue and tenor Paulo Ferreira.
In the different productions Marina has been involved she worked with renowned directors and choreographers as António Durães, Catarina Costa e Silva, Clara Andermatt, Cláudia Marisa, Helen Suyderhoud, Jorge Loureiro, José Lourenço, Marcos Barbosa, Max Hoehn, Norma Graça-Silvestre, Paula Azguime, Paula Sá Nogueira, Pedro Lamares, Peter Konwitschny, Sílvia Real, Sybille Wilson and Vincent van den Elshout.
She was conducted by António Diogo, António Saiote, Cesário Costa, Bart Bouckaert, Christoph König, Clara Coelho, Emílio de César, Filipe Veríssimo, Guillaume Bourgogne, Helder Magalhães, Ivo Venkov, Jairo Grossi, Jan Wierzba, Joana Carneiro, João Paulo Fernandes, João Paulo Santos, João Pedro Santos, José Eduardo Gomes, Luís Clemente, Luís Machado, Marc Tardue, Miguel del Castillo, Pedro Monteiro, Pedro Moreira, Pedro Sousa, Petter Sundkvist and Rui Pinheiro.
Marina performed with Banda Sinfónica da Covilhã, Douru’s Orquestra, Ensemble Contemporâneo do Porto, Ensemble ESML, Ensemble MPMP, Jenaer Philharmonie, Jeugd en Muziek Orkest van Antwerpen, Norrbotten Neo, Orquestra AMFF, Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa, Orquestra Artave, Orquestra Clássica do Centro, Orquestra Clássica do Sul, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Sine Nomine, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto, Portuguese Brass and Sinfonieta da ESMAE and Sond’ar-te Electric Ensemble.
Marina performs regularly in Portugal and abroad singing opera, oratorio, chamber music and particularly contemporary music. She has two projects with regular activity: Marina Pacheco & Olga Amaro and Trio “À la joie…” which premiere took place, respectively, in 2011 and 2017. In 2016 she created her own project “A Solo” totally dedicated to contemporary music, where she performs a capella pieces and pieces with video and/ or electronics.
Marina Pacheco is member of the European Network of Opera Academies – ENOA – representing Caloust Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon). She is member of the Artistic Comission of Orquestra Clássica do Centro.
She won 3rd Prize and Audience Prize at 19th Concurso Internacional do Estoril (Portugal, 2017), 1st Prize at Stara Zagora Competition (Bulgary, 2016), 1st Prize at Prémio Jovens Músicos RTP/ Antena2 – singing category superior level (Portugal, 2012). She got Vladislava Starkova Prize at Pustina’s Competition (Czech Republic, 2012), 2nd and 3rd Prize and Prize Best Interpretation of Portuguese Song at 5th and 6th Fundação Rotária Portuguesa Competitions (Portugal, 2011/2012) and Prize Youngest Finalist at Terzo Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico Luciano Neroni (Italy, 2009).
In 2010 the album “João Arroyo: obra para canto e piano” recorded with pianist Joana David was released by Phonedition Records and in 2013 Parlophone released “Canções de Lemúria – Marina Pacheco & Olga Amaro. In 2017 “Cantiga partindo-se” was released, where she recorded with João Roiz Ensemble.
