Tiago Matos-01During the 2017/18 season, Tiago Matos, baritone, will join again two Opéra national de Paris (OnP) productions: playing Un Députée Flamand in the new production of Don Carlos (Verdi) and also Il Marchese d’Obigny in Traviata (Verdi). He will also give a recital integrated in the educational season of the OnP. Then, he’ll be Le Chat and L’Horloge Comtoise in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (Ravel) in the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, in Lisbon.
He was a member of the Atelier Lyrique de l’OnP between 2012 and 2014. During these two seasons he performed Enrico in Isola Disabitata (Haydn), Bonafede in Il Mondo della Luna (Haydn), Junius in The Rape of Lucretia (Britten) and the title role in Don Giovanni (Mozart). Since 2014, Tiago joined the OnP for three productions: Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), playing Fiorello; Le Roi Arthus (Chausson) as Un Chevalier and also Rigoletto (Verdi) as Il Conte di Ceprano.
He interpreted the role of Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette (Gounod) with the Savannah Voice Festival; Il Conte Almaviva in Le Nozze di Fígaro (Mozart) and most recently Dancaire in Carmen (Bizet), with the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, in Lisbon, and with The Grange Festival. He was also part of the french tour of Les Caprices de Marianne (Sauget) playing Le Chanteur de Sérénade. Tiago also sang the title role of Don Giovanni (Mozart) in the Estates Theatre, where the opera was first presented, with the Prague Summer Nights festival.
Tiago Matos obtained his degree in Music – Singing from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, where he studied under the supervision of Isabel Alcobia. He attended several master classes and summer programs such as the Académie Mozart du Festival d’Aix-en-Provance, the Académie Internationale Michel Plasson, the masterclasses ENOA and the VoicExperience Foundation programs. Actually he works with Michelle Wegwart.
